About Susan:

Principal Consultant, Susan Briggs

Director and Principal Consultant, Susan Briggs has had over 20 years’ experience working in vocational education and training. Before launching her consultancy business, Susan was Industry Specialist for Tourism and Hospitality with the Service Industry Skills Council, and prior to that, National Training Development Manager with Tourism Training Australia.

Experience and expertise:

  • responsible for the development and maintenance of national industry qualifications and competency standards (Training Packages) for the tourism, hospitality, events and caravan industries
  • managed development of national curricula, assessments and training products and services for the service and other industries
  • qualified and experienced trainer and assessor
  • qualified auditor
  • worked with RTOs, government and industry on a wide range of projects
  • extensive experience in hospitality industry
  • delivered professional development workshops nationally
  • member of Australian Council of Private Providers, Tourism, Hospitality and Catering Institute of Australia and (previously) NARA
  • judge for state and national WorldSkills competitions, HMAA Awards
  • speaks other languages: Spanish, Italian and French

Susan is actively involved in industry networks and has chaired and served on many committees, managing the development of tourism and hospitality, events and caravan industry initiatives. She has presented at many conferences and facilitated consultation sessions with industry and VET practitioners.

Susan has a strong desire to improve the professionalism and success of service industries. She remains committed to their success, and through her consultancy business, to the provision of high quality training that meets their skills needs.
